When we walked through these doors about a year ago with an off‑the‑wall proposal, we had no idea what was about to be laid before us. We discovered possibility a need for the mission, and so together, with you, we brought a quiet building back to life.

​Grand Rapids needs accessible arts. Our city needs places where people can gather, learn, create, and feel connected, spaces that aren’t priced out of reach or overshadowed by massive, impersonal venues. Emerging artists need a platform. Young performers need a stage. And every artist deserves an audience. ​This is our mission, this is why we exist. And because of the people who walked alongside us through this interesting 8 months, supported us, and believed in this mission, we’re now poised to carry our mission forward and find our next home.

On May 15 we will lock The Lit doors one last time and say a prayer for this special building to continue living as it was intended as the building owners put it up for sale. So, The Lit by The Penny Loafer is on the move. We hope you'll continue to follow the journey as we search for our new home.
